Old School may not be a Judd Apatow produced movie, but it certainly is hilarious and one of my favorite movies of all time. The film stars Will Ferrell, Lucas Wilson, and Vince Vaughn.
They clock in at the average age of around 35, which is a little bit too old to be joining a fraternity. Good thing they aren’t joining one, but creating one. Luke Wilson comes home one night to find his wife cheating on him, hosting an orgy. This plus a couple other factors influence the men to start a fraternity. They host house parties, drink until they’re belligerent, and go streaking. The best part though, is that the grown men have their own pledges. They mess with the pledges in hilarious ways that I cant even put into words in this blog. If you are someone in a fraternity, you will especially find this movie hilarious. Surprisingly you will be able to relate.

Step Brother Movie Review
Step Brothers is a 2008 film co-produced by Judd Apatow. The movie is about 39 year old Brennan Huff, played by Will Ferrel, and Dale Doback, played by John C. Reilly. Brennan and Dale have a few things in common. First, they are both about 40ish years old, never have a job, live with their parents, and most importantly, are now step brothers. Once their parents fall in love and get married, the two unlikely friends must live together in the same room. At first, their is a big rivalry between the two. Their intense rivalry and narcissism break the family apart. Eventually, the two brothers discover that they share similar interest. The two immature adults share secrets, have sleepovers, laugh at fart jokes, and you get the rest. They start acting like brothers.
Brennan: Did we just become best friends?
Dale: Yep!
Brennan: Do you wanna do Karate in the garage?
Dale: Yep!
The famous “Karate in the garage” is a classic line from this movie. This quote is one of the most important to me because it reminds me of true brotherhood. I have 2 younger brothers who I didn’t always get along with growing up. Obviously we had our fights, annoyed each other, rivaled, but at the end of the day are best friends. Although Dale and Brennan are about 40 years old, they remind me of the good times growing up I had with my brothers. Playing Star Wars, making fart jokes, having sleepovers with friends/cousins etc. Step Brothers is a great comedy movie, but to someone like myself, represents something more. There’s nothing like “tough brotherly love” which is why I love this movie. Step Brothers is an all-time classic to myself and lots of other movie fans around the world. The 40 Year Old Virgin Movie Review
Judd Apatows The 40 Year Old Virgin is a comedy starring Steve Carrel as Andy Stitzer. For a goofy comedy such as this one, they movie is surprisingly insightful. Andy distracts himself from thinking about being a virgin with obsessions. He is obsessed with action figures, video games, and collectibles. Andy works at an electronic super store, where he is surrounded by employees who are constantly bantering about sex. One day during a poker game, Andy’s co
workers realize how uncomfortable and naive he is on the topic. Once they found out he was a virgin, they made it their mission to end his 40 year old drought. Although Andy would rather just sit at home with his action figures, his new friends don’t let him. His friends set him up in a singles bar, give him advice, try speed dating, but none of it works. Across the mall is a single, attractive, sales clerk who Andy is too shy and awkward to talk to. He somehow begins talking to her and that’s when the plot beings wrapping up. I think that the best part about this movie is how well Steve Carrel and Katherine Keener (Shop keeper) work together. You can definitely see the chemistry. If there is anything to take away from this movie, its that its better late than never.

Funny People Movie Review
Judd Apatow’s, Funny People, released in 2009. Stares Adam Sandler. The movie is about his character George, a superstar stand up comic, who finds he has a short time to live. George although famous and successful, lives an isolated life. He doesn’t really have anyone to go to when he hears of this news. On a trip, George meets a hungry, ambitious young kid named Ira Wright, played by Seth Rogan. George first hires him to write for him and as they become better friends, allows him to work his way up the ranks. George eventually ends up befriending Ira and tells him about his worries. Laura, played by Leslie Mann was the one that got away. George encounters her again in the film only to find she is married to an Australian man. Success shut George and Laura’s relationship down, but George now finds her as a good outlet for him to talk to. Whats nice about this movie, is that Adam Sandler doesn’t play the typical role his fans are used to. He is much more serious and depressed in this movie, so if you’re a fan of Adam Sandler you definitely need to check this one out. If you’re interested in the movie, check out this trailer.
Superbad Movie Review
Judd Apatows, Superbad, released August 17th, 2007, is a movie about 2 best friends Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera). Equally unpopular, the 2 teens were inseparable in high school, facing the challenge of going to separate colleges. With only a few weeks left in senior year, they realize they only have a few more weeks to have sex in high school, which to them is a huge deal. Seth and Evan are so desperate, they fall for almost every single girl in the school. Their conversation skills with girls are so bad, that sometimes they will give them the time, even if they are not asked. Awkward. A third main character in the film, Fogell (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), also known as “McLovin” for his attempt at making a fake ID with the name McLovin, is so unpopular, that he makes Seth and Evan look cool. Every weekend the crew hears girls complaining about getting drunk and sleeping with the wrong guy by mistake. The crews modest ambition is, be that mistake. They get invited to a party by one of the popular girls, Jules (Emma Stone) who exclaims that the party isn’t BYOB, but BYOAEE (Bring Your Own And Everybody Elses). This is what sets the crew on the hunt to get alcohol underage. Bringing alcohol to an underage party will instantly make them cooler. To make the long story short, the gang has a crazy night filled with mistakes, laughter, bad decisions, and booze. The hilarious film does a great job as a satire towards the high school days. Writing this review makes me want to re watch the film, as it would take me back to the high school days were alcohol, girls, and parties are all new.
