Hollywood has had a long-running love for stoner movies. It was only a matter of time before Judd Apatow hopped on the trend. Cheech and Chong , Mac and Devin Go to Highschool, and the Pineapple Express are only a few of the classics. The films main characters feature Dale Denton (played by Seth Rogan) and Saul Silver (played by James Franco). Dale works as a process server, which means he delivers legal summons to unfortunate residents. The job requires a lot of car time which gives Dale ample amount of time to indulge in his favorite activity, smoking marijuana. Dale, the 25 year old stoner, is in an unlikely love affair with an 18 year old senior in high-school Angie Anderson.

Saul Silver is Dales drug dealer. He is eager to sell Dale a strain called Pineapple Express. It is the finest product he has ever had. Saul says that even smoking this strain of pot is a crime because it’s “like killing a unicorn”. A man that goes by the name “Red” gave Saul the exclusive right to distribute.
Dale goes to drop off a summons to Ted Jones, Reds supplier. While smoking a blunt in his car, Dale witnesses Ted and a female police officer shoot and kill a man. Dale throws his joint out of the window in panic and shoots off. It doesn’t take Ted long to realize that the joint was rolled with his strain, pineapple express. This leads him to Saul and Dale as they try and stay one step ahead of the Kingpin drug dealer as they are caught up in a bloody drug war. The two business partners Dale and Saul now become unlikely friends as they go on a crazy adventure for their lives.
This film is one of my favorite Judd Apatow films. It’s hilarious concept that will without a doubt make you laugh. I genuinely recommend this movie to anyone who isn’t extremely anti-marijuana. If you’re interested, check out the trailer.
